Merkandoo is Mecexis's own product for organizing a team's work. Tasks, hours and working-hours registration in a single tool that responds instantly and is driven from the keyboard. We built it for ourselves, and that is still its best test: we use it every day.
We were the client
Does this situation sound familiar?
Several projects at once, hours that have to be charged to each client, a working day that has to be recorded by law and a team split between the office and remote work. Usually all of that lives in three or four places: a task manager, a time-tracking tool, a clock-in app and a spreadsheet holding it all together.
The same was happening to us. For years we tried the tools on the market and none of them fitted. Some imposed processes designed for other companies, others had features nobody used, and getting hours ready for invoicing still took time. As a company that builds custom software, the conclusion was obvious: build our own.
The name comes from "meerkat can do". Meerkats work in colonies, coordinate naturally and there is always one on guard while the others work.

In an inspection, it is essential to have a complete, reliable record that is easy to consult. And the key to making sure nothing is missing is that clocking in is simple: if it is awkward, people forget, and a record with gaps is useless. With a team split between the office, remote work and several locations, spreadsheets and standalone apps only make it harder.
That is why Merkandoo lets people clock in within seconds, from a computer or a phone, without leaving the tool they already work with and without learning anything new. And the company always has an orderly, reviewed record, ready whenever it is requested, without having to chase anyone.

Our own product as a method
Every Merkandoo feature comes from a real need of the team, is tested in daily work and is improved or dropped depending on how it is used. We focus on what is really useful and leave everything else out.
And although the product is young, the engineering behind it is not. Each organization has its own instance, with two-factor authentication and automatic backups. It is easy to maintain and runs on a low server cost.
A product with a future
Ready for other teams
Merkandoo was born inside Mecexis, but each organization runs on its own instance, so it is already ready for other teams. The roadmap includes documentation alongside tasks, a kanban view, chat and spaces to collaborate with clients.
And, further ahead, quotes and invoicing, to go from recorded hours to the invoice without leaving the tool.
